What’s Wrong and What’s Right with Amsterdam?

What’s Wrong with Amsterdam?
Could it be the bikes? The Red Lights? The whiff of Mary Jane in the air?

Maybe it’s the garbage out of which this swan builds her nest.

So what’s Right with Amsterdam?
Could it be the bikes? The Red Lights? The whiff of Mary Jane in the air?

Maybe it’s the Golden Age (17th century) architecture as represented in the stately mansions that line the city’s central canals.

Maybe its the world-class museums such as the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House.

Or maybe it’s the tolerance of the people. Half of the population of Amsterdam is Dutch. The other half are from faraway places like Suriname in South America, Curacao in the West Indies and Java in what was formerly the Dutch East Indies.  There are also Jews from Russia, Moslems from Turkey and north Africa and all kinds of Christians from other European countries. Somehow they have learned to get along with each other.
