Guam 2015: Jesse and Ruby at the Outrigger

On four of the 13 nights we spent on Guam last month we dropped by the Bambu Bar and lounge in the lobby of the Outrigger Resort to listen to the music of Jesse and Ruby. They sing and play mellow island music, pop hits from the 70s and 80s and once in a while a Filipino ballad or Japanese love song. Jesse Bais and Ruby Santos are cousins who have been together off and on since the 80s and they both love music. It shows.

Ruby sings and plays the guitar. Jesse sings and plays the digital drum. Sometimes he harmonizes in a voice higher than Ruby’s. We saw them twice when it was just the two of them. One time two guitarists joined them. On this night they were accompanied by Ruby’s brother Les on the guitar. He also played a guitar solo during the evening.

Jesse and Ruby were accompanied by Ruby's brother Les on the guitar. We heard him do a mean solo, too!

  1. This series captures great moments and they’re neat environmental portraits, and the song is lovely! Good times!
