Monochrome Madness 3 -1: Lamps and Hats and Clothes-pinned Slippers

We were wandering around Puerta del Sol in central Madrid one day last Fall when we decided to walk a couple of blocks down Calle de Carretas to Plaza de Jacinto Benavente to see if our favorite chocolateria was still there. Along the way we passed this little store with a lot of interesting hats and lamps and several slippers hanging on a rope with clothes-pins.

I thought this shot was aching to be transformed into monochrome. Oh, according to the sign on the left they were also selling some colorful heating pads. I believe “relajante” means “soothing” or “relaxing.” Another sign on the front wall above the slippers proclaimed “be happy.” I guess that was the name of the store.

We passed the store and entered the plaza and there on the left was our favorite chocolateria. So we each had a cup of hot chocolate and some churros. Delicioso! And we were happy.

This is the beginning of Leanne Cole’s third year of Monochrome Madness. Go to Leanne’s website to see what other photographers are doing in monochrome these days.
