We were wandering around Puerta del Sol in central Madrid one day last Fall when we decided to walk a couple of blocks down Calle de Carretas to Plaza de Jacinto Benavente to see if our favorite chocolateria was still there. Along the way we passed this little store with a lot of interesting hats and lamps and several slippers hanging on a rope with clothes-pins.

I thought this shot was aching to be transformed into monochrome. Oh, according to the sign on the left they were also selling some colorful heating pads. I believe “relajante” means “soothing” or “relaxing.” Another sign on the front wall above the slippers proclaimed “be happy.” I guess that was the name of the store.
We passed the store and entered the plaza and there on the left was our favorite chocolateria. So we each had a cup of hot chocolate and some churros. Delicioso! And we were happy.
