MM 3-32 Back to Purisima Creek

For this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge I have decided to submit another photo from my Veterans Day hike to Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve with my younger daughter and her family. Purisima Creek is along the San Mateo coast just south of Half Moon Bay and is about 40 miles west of my home in Castro Valley.

Another shot from our hike along the Purisima Creek trail in Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve near Half Moon Bay, California.

I processed the photo in Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro and then converted to monochrome in Nik Silver Efex Pro using the 030 film noir 1 preset. I played with the global adjustment sliders a tad and then moved down to the Film Types section and in color sensitivity I moved the yellow slider all the way to the right (+100%) and all of the other colors to the left (-100%) so that only the moss-covered tree is accentuated and everything else is pretty dark.

Here’s the color version:

This photo was processed in Lightroom 5 and Nik Color Efex Pro 2.
